She was 250 pounds, 5 foot tall and encased in cement. Her head turned over her shoulder. One hand held flowers, the other intuitively covered her heart. She was a Winston, Salem girl on sale for $99.00. Soon she would be shipped 1000 miles to be part of my Feng Shui Garden.

The UPS men stared in horror as I opened the Honda car trunk. Their faces showed the grief of wrapping heavy objects in bubble wrap for quacks like me. With grunts and puffs they held on to her cement breasts and buttocks, using them as handles to push and pull her unglamorously from the Honda on to a trolley. One man lifted his head towards the heavens, as if pleading “Dear God, Why Me?” I thought, “Where am I going to put her!?” Clearly I needed Feng Shui Gardening.

LOVING GARDENERS CLUTTERED WITH CHAOTIC LAWN ORNAMENTS

Feng Shui Gardening is not trendy, it’s survival in an already chaotic world.

How would I “Feng Shui” my new statue into the studio yard without looking junky? I have seen the landscapes of loving gardeners cluttered with chaotic lawn ornaments. Spinning glass twirlers, glass balls, 5 off key chimes, and clashing flower colors soon become an eye sore. Alas, the best of intensions can become the Feng Shui trailer trash look; {there’s nothing wrong with trailers.} Anything can become beautiful with harmony. We all need Feng Shui Energy Gardening.

FENG SHUI Garden Books to the Rescue!

The Garden as a Mirror of Life

“{from Feng Shui Your Garden Book #1}

“The most important thing is how the changes you make or elements you add to your Feng Shui garden make you feel. ”   Your first intuitive plans and impressions start with the living space. Each section of your garden should vibrate:

  • playfully,
  • thoughtfully,
  • creatively,
  • or restfully.

{I take this concept as: “Dress” your yard as you would dress your self.” Would you wear clashing colors? Don’t do it to the yard! Would you wear masses of jewelry? Even though we love ALL our favorite pieces, we know enough not to wear them all at once. Yet this is what garden lovers often do to their yards.

FLOWER COLOR SCHEME

  • Think Harmony
  • The most important thing is to create blocks of plants with colors that blend well –
  • not one of a lot of things, but a lot of a few things.

Imagine your yard. Visually cut it in squares to match the Feng Shui Energy map above.

  • Your entrance door will be your focal point direction.
  • A way to apply the feng shui philosophy to your garden is starting at the entrance, Meyer suggests.
  • An arbor, for example, makes clear to people where to come in and makes the garden inviting.

EXAMPLE: MY PSYCHIC STUDIO ENTRENCE DOOR

 FACING WEST  – #7 – Children

My 300 lb Garden Angel flew in on a Boom Truck in 2004 .

  • My 300 lb Garden Sculpture faces west on a 3 tier raised bed.
  • West = Children {playfulness] #7
  • Flowers = white & gold for #7
  • Entrance Garden Lawn Ornaments = {my Angel garden faces west}
  • This tells me gold and white flowers should blend with my Angel harmoniously.

Ahhhhhhhhh……….I`m getting it now!

EXAMPLE: My South Butterfly Garden – #9 Fame

My Renaissance Dress Sculpture {life size}

South =  {sun! butterfly gardens! } –

  • Flowers = fire red, copper, mauve,
  • Lawn Ornaments= my 5 ft tall copper wire Renaissance Dress
  • Keeping flowers in red will blend with the sculpture harmoniously.
  • This could work!

EXAMPLE: STUDIO ENTERY SIDEWALK FROM DRIVEWAY- NORTH

{Athenas New Home} – North – Career #1

  • North = Career {client entrance for intuitive readings}
  • Symbology: Water, the moon {chimes=water}
  • Entrance Sidewalk = Arbor {I will put Athena here facing North to greet clients.}
  • Flowers = Blue {water} {Athena appears as if she is stepping barefoot from a stream. Blue flowers at her feet.}

My Athena Statue will become my North Sidewalk entrance greeter.

At this point my Psychic Studio gardening is finished.  Adding one more thing  pushes me to clutter point.

  • Clutter=Mental Drain, and bad Feng Shui.
  • Cracks in the side walk = Bad Feng Shui
  • Rickey or Crumbeling stairs = Bad Feng Shui
  • Disrepaired Doors = Bad Feng Shui

The Entry to the door represents the energy you attract within.

EXAMPLE: My back yard is a bright sunny South East – #1 Family

My 12 Ft tall Grandfather Maple “Wolf Tree” { Midwest Chain Saw Art}

  • Feng Shui Energy Map – East = Family.
  • Here I will have my vegetable garden.
  • Here is also our Pet Tree, and a place to drink coffee
  • a wood Martin bird house will keep mosquitoes’ down as I weed in the cool evening.
  • Food = Family = vegetable garden.

THE PERFECT FENG SHUI GARDEN HAS 5 ELEMENTS

  • Water: Bird bath, fountain,
  • Wood: Arbor, bench, planting boxes
  • Fire: Lights, grill
  • Earth: Soil, clay pots, boulder
  • Metal: Arbor, seating, wind chimes

Thanks to Feng Shui Gardening, my Winston Salem statue “Athena” has a function as an “entrance greeter” much like an attendee at a Wal-mart store. Using the Feng Shui Energy map I can see which flower colors to choose to create a “feeling” of harmony at my studio.
